Snubnose Frankenstein and MitchGoneMad have been two of our favorites here at One Throne ever since the release of their collaboration project, Rappin’ Ass N*gga, back in 2011. I recently got the opportunity to speak with the two artists about how they began their career, their favorite albums, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Pokemon, and more. Check out the full interview below!
One Throne: To get things started, how did you two meet?
MitchGoneMad: I was rapping and I wasn’t recording yet. He (Frankenstein) was already recording. We went to the same high school. I used to be a huge Wale fan and I asked him about this Wale line that nobody else could figure out. We started talking about music and shit and that’s how it started.
One Throne: Lets talk about Rappin Ass N*gga (RAN). Did y’all write your verses separately and then record together or how did that work?
Frankenstein: We would start our verses on our own but we are talking on the time and I’d be like “This is what I got”. Then we would finish the verses together
MitchGoneMad: Yea, there was a lot of teamwork.
One Throne: You guys recently released “Cul De Sac (Part II)”. Why have you decided to drop off that song four years after RAN’s release?
MitchGoneMad: We were so tired of not having music out. We were like, “Lets put this out and see how it’s received”.
Frankenstein: Yea, initially we weren’t gonna call it that but it was a last minute decision. We were done with the song and couldn’t come up with a title.
One Throne: You both can answer this, if you were stranded on an island for the rest of your life and could only take three albums with you, what three would you pick?
Frankenstein: Ight, I’m gonna go ahead and say mine. I would take Dots and Loops by Stereolab- I gotta have that. My second one…if it was a last minute thing I would grab Kendrick’s new album! My last one would probably be…it’s gotta be some classic rap shit. I don’t know man…I’m just gonna have to take those two (*laughs*)..
MitchGoneMad: I would take Stereolab’s Dots and Loops. Then I gotta have The Dark Side Of The Moon. I gotta have some rap shit, not the new Kendrick, not Illmatic. Illmatic isn’t an island album. I’m not gonna take three either!
One Throne: I saw that you are an Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Do you think they can make it to the Western conference finals? (This interview was done before the playoffs started).
Frankenstein: I’m gonna come clean, I love OKC but I’m also a realist. If we make it to the playoffs we’re gonna have to play Warriors. No Serge Ibaka? That would be a tough one. At the same time, there’s so many other teams in the West, but hopefully.
One Throne: Tell us a little about your group, Lousy Human Bastards. What direction is the group going right now?
Frankenstein: Honestly, I think we’re just taking it one step at a time. Not putting too much stress on ourselves but still wanting to deliver consistently. Whatever really sounds good and is tight to us, that’s what we’re gonna go with.
One Throne: What do you guys think of Kendrick’s new album, To Pimp A Butterfly?
Frankenstein: Ayy man…*laughs*. I gave it a 7/10, but then when I listened to the last song and heard Pac on it, it jumped to an 8. Then I started listening to it over and over and it went up to a 9.
One Throne: Time for One Throne’s random interview question…what is your favorite Pokemon and why?
Frankenstein: I just liked the way they were designed/looked when I was younger. The different colors. I didn’t really know how to play and use the cards. If I had to pick one…that’s a hard ass question. I might have to go with Squirtle bruh cause my favorite color was blue.
MitchGoneMad: I’d probably have to say Mewtwo. He stood out from all the other ones, he’s a real n*gga.
One Throne: Is there ever going to be a Rappin’ Ass N*gga II project?
MitchGoneMad: I wouldn’t say a follow up, but definitely a new project! We just got to let RAN be itself.
Frankenstein: I’m just ready to work, that’s all I have to say.
MitchGoneMad: Hey Drew…
One Throne: Yea…?
MitchGoneMad: You a real n*gga!
